| "PRI's art program combines a deeply felt emotional commitment to their clients with a professionally produced and marketed product." |
| ~ Mary Hele, Director of Retail Operations, Minneapolis Institute of Arts |
| PARTnerships, the arts program, incorporates art as a therapy and a means of communication. The program also offers individuals the opportunity to exhibit and showcase their art in various community venues and to sell their work to community members. The benefit is two-fold. The individual has the opportunity to become a taxpayer and community members who view or purchase the art work expand their knowledge of developmental disabilities. |
| “I support PRI because I believe in their mission, that they really do enrich the lives of these artists. PRI creates opportunities that otherwise would not exist.” |
| ~ Jennifer Dick Guion, owner, Luna Vinca |
| Since the inception of the arts program, client participation has increased yearly, the number of art venues and exhibits has also increased yearly and the number of pieces of original and framed prints sold has increased yearly. The clients’ artwork is consistently appreciated and purchased by community members. |
| “I was so impressed by the art produced by these disabled people. It reinforces my feeling that the best art is produced by those who are tested by life.” |
| ~ J. Brian Atwood, Dean, Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs |
For the artists of PRI, the arts program provides an opportunity to grow, succeed and express their ideas and thoughts. The artists are clear in their wishes, the arts program needs to continue to grow and expand by offering new instructors, more classes and opportunity for artists to come together with other artists in the community. The dream is for PARTnerships to have a community studio that allows for interaction with other artists and the opportunity to develop relationships. A studio free from physical, emotional and psychological barriers that offers each artist a safe place to try new things, use new materials and develop their own personal style would only increase the benefits the arts have for PRI artists.

| “Art means that I can be expressive and free, not always trapped, it is just an extension of me.” |
| ~ Dionne, Artist |
| “… art brought a new life in me. Without the art classes, something would be missing in my life.” |
| ~ Richard, Artist |
