Your Give to the Max donation will champion PRI’s arts program vision to interweave arts engagement throughout all programming to empower individuals in personal growth, goals attainment, and joyful living!
PRI believes that each person we serve deserves access to the benefits of the arts and opportunities for creative expression! As champions for creativity, together, we can remove barriers and increase access to high-quality arts opportunities that support functional skills development and empower voices and choices.
Your Give to the Max donation ensures individuals with disabilities have:
- Access to community-based arts experiences like theater, museums, and hands-on activities
- Equipment and supplies that makes arts engagement accessible for all
- Opportunities for weekly arts instruction at all PRI sites in multiple disciplines
- Enhanced arts learning through community partners like MacPhail Center for Music, Upstream Arts, Compas, and Mudluk Pottery
Check out the stories below and learn how PRI’s intentional arts experiences are igniting new interests and building community for individuals with disabilities:
Stevey’s Story
Stevey who is a 76-year-old client artist who has attended PRI for the past 12 years, is thrilled to participate in weekly arts learning. Barbara, his guardian, says, “We didn’t know until Stevey got to PRI that he was an artist because he never had the opportunity to express himself in visual arts. It was a revelation to all of us because he started going to the program in his 70’s, and he absolutely loves visual arts.”
Felt Installation
Client artists at PRI’s Minneapolis Day Services recently completed a pop art installation, a vending machine made entirely out of felt, inspired by Artist, Lucy Sparrow. Clients learned to create in a new medium, made choices, practiced cooperation, and grew together in community. Your Give to the Max day donation increases access to unique arts experiences like this.
MacPhail Story
Community partners like MacPhail Center for Music have enhanced PRI’s curriculum for nearly 20 years. Every week, clients gather to sing, play instruments, and listen, all the while building skills, creating connections, and enjoying opportunities to make choices and amplify their voices. Your support of our community partnerships brings joy and inclusion to individuals with disabilities!
“I like when we play music on the drums. When Mark comes to PRI I feel happy.”
-Adam G.
“It’s my favorite class. It helps me calm down.”
-Lori H.
“I like when he mashes songs to make new songs. I like when he ends it saying “Today’s going to be a great day.”
-Tara L.
There are many more individuals with disabilities who want opportunities for creative self-expression, which builds community, develops skills, and improves self-confidence.
